Karuna is a conceptual identity for a minimalist retreat villas with bistro & surf shop, located near Dickwella Beach, on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. The project explores how typography can express stillness, compassion, and the intimate connection between architecture, nature, and human presence. Developed as my final assignment in the Creative Typography course created by Design Practice & led by Mateusz Machalski. The project’s core task was to design a logotype from scratch in FontLab, building a unique typographic form as the foundation of the brand’s identity. Karuna became an opportunity to merge branding with spatial experience — translating the ideas of minimalism, light, and quiet living into a typographic logo and visual language. The project was recognized with a distinction, which made the creative process all the more rewarding.
